"Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light. All things were made by Him; and without Him not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believes on Him is not condemned; but He that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest their deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
This, then is the message which we have heard from Him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth; but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son cleanses us from all sin."
