Current Studies, June 1999

The Welfare Reform Committee, LWV-VC's local study for 1999-2000, will
continue for a second year to research and monitor Ventura County's
welfare reform program, CalWORKS.

The study group has been dark for the summer, with full activity resuming in late

"Sustainability - Community Education and Action" will be the 1999-2000
State League issue for emphasis. Unit meetings in September will address this
timely and fascinating topic, applying prepared information to their own city
and gathering needed data from their city; measuring how and where each city is following sustainable communities guidelines.
