QUAKER OATMEAL COOKIES 1-1/2 cups margarine (2 ½ sticks) 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar ½ cup granulate white sugar (More if desired) 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt (If you wish.) 1 cup walnut pieces (or more if you wish) 1 package of chocolate chips 3 cups Old Fashioned Quaker Oats Heat oven to 375o F. Beat margarine and sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add combined flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Stir Old Fashioned Quaker Oats. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake eight to nine minutes for a chewy cookie. Ten to 11 minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool on cookie sheet. Use spatula to remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. ( I mix the dough in a quisinart and then add nuts, chips, and oats by hand. For those who like raisins, a cup may be added.)
